About SEED

The Department of Sustainable Development, Environmental Sciences and Engineering (SEED) conducts research and education focused on the sustainable development of society.

SEED gathers a broad range of interdisciplinary expertise to conduct research that covers a wide field within environmental, engineering and sustainability issues. Some of this research is conducted in close collaboration with the private sector and city and municipal councils. We also enjoy well-established international collaborations.

The department was established in 2013 as part of KTH’s ambition to be a leading technical university in the field of environmental science and sustainable development. Since June 2017, the department has consisted of four divisions:

These departments are the result of a merger of the previous Department of Land and Water Resources Engineering and the Divisions of Industrial Ecology and Environmental Strategies Research.
