Research at SEED

The Department of Sustainable Development, Environmental Sciences and Engineering (SEED) conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of environmental issues, societal change and technological innovation, focused on developing more sustainable social systems.

Balancing economic and social development against the limits of the ecosystem’s stability is an important part of the research. Another focus of research is the area of sustainable urban development. SEED wants to contribute to making a reality of society’s demands for the sustainable and efficient use of natural resources.

The departement's scientific basis is a thorough understanding of natural sciences combined with technical knowledge. Most of the projects are interdisciplinary and conducted in collaboration with practitioners.

Research is carried out by a number of research groups.
